Age as on 01 January 2027: 21 to 30 years.

Date of Birth: Candidate must have been born not earlier than 02 January 1997 and not later than 01 January 2006.

SC/ST: Up to 5 years relaxation.

OBC: Up to 3 years relaxation.

PwBD: Up to 10 years relaxation, subject to eligibility for identified services/posts.

Departmental candidates, eligible Defence Services personnel and Ex-Servicemen can get age relaxation as prescribed in the official notice.

For admission to ESE 2027, candidates must possess an eligible Engineering Degree or another qualification specifically recognized in the UPSC notification. Accepted routes include an Engineering Degree from a recognized University/Institution, Sections A & B of Institution of Engineers (India), certain recognized foreign Engineering degrees/diplomas, and specified professional membership examinations.

Special qualification routes: For Indian Naval Armament Service (Electronics Engineering Posts), an M.Sc. or equivalent with Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics or Radio Engineering as a special subject can also be eligible. For Indian Radio Regulatory Service Group-A, prescribed M.Sc./Master’s qualifications in Wireless Communication Electronics, Radio Physics, Radio Engineering, Physics & Radio Communication, Electronics or Telecommunication are also accepted as stated in the notice.

Candidates appearing in a qualifying examination or awaiting result may apply provisionally, but candidates called for Personality Test/Interview must produce proof of passing within the UPSC-prescribed window.

1. Stage-I: Preliminary Examination – Objective Type, 500 marks.
2. Stage-II: Main Examination – Conventional Type, 600 marks.
3. Stage-III: Personality Test / Interview – 200 marks.
4. Final Merit: Marks of Stage-I + Stage-II + Stage-III are counted for final ranking, subject to minimum qualifying standards fixed by UPSC.
5. Medical Examination: Finally recommended candidates must undergo the prescribed medical examination and satisfy physical/medical standards of the allocated service/post.

UPSC states that questions will be set from all 10 topics and each topic may carry approximately 5% to 15% of Paper-I marks.

UPSC has indicated 19 PwBD vacancies within the approximately 480 vacancies. Service-wise suitability depends on the identified functional classification and physical requirements given in the notification.

Candidates in the Blindness category are advised not to apply because no vacancies are identified for that category in the included services/posts. Low Vision and other PwBD candidates should apply only for services/posts for which their disability category is identified as suitable.

Finally recommended candidates are required to undergo medical examination and must satisfy the prescribed physical and medical standards for the service/post allotted.
